Sydney’s Party Dozen, consisting of saxophonist Kirsty Tickle and percussionist Jonathan Boulet, return with their new album Crime In Australia, following the international success of their 2022 release The Real Work. This new record, written, recorded, and produced by the duo in their Sydney studio, was inspired by their Marrickville neighborhood, once a notorious crime hot spot in the 60s-70s, now gentrified. Crime In Australia is divided into two halves: the first, ‘order’, features their most accessible and listenable tracks, while the second, ‘disorder’, dives into louder, unhinged, and chaotic sounds. The album showcases the duo’s experimental nature, blending catchy danceable moments, frenetic soundscapes, and playful immaturity with visceral, face-melting energy. The album follows the success of The Real Work, which earned widespread praise, global airplay, and a rigorous touring schedule, including performances with bands like The Bad Seeds and Spiritualized.
